On March 18th, the PTA organized its 3rd Annual Math Day.  Every student in the school participated in a volunteer-run math activity that day instead of his or her regular math class.  This year we had Larry Clarkberg teaching computer programming with Scratch, Corinne Frantz doing Soma cubes and the game of Sprouts, Yuval Grossman with game theory, Shane Henderson doing fire station location problems with Excel, Liz Karns and Ornit Grossman running the Countdown math quiz developed by Melissa Smith, Edith and Larry McCrea doing tangrams and pentominoes, Ryan Salisbury investigating the Fibonacci series, Nancy Schaff and Rick Kline doing math and astronomy, David Schneider doing computational sustainability games, and Robbert van Renesse doing Möbius strips.  Larry Clarkberg also designed the wonderful Math Day poster.  We thank all these people, and we also thank the following volunteers for helping: Wendy Bakal, Lisa Bonniwell, Olus Boratav, Sonam Dalal, Ryan de Haas, Carla Gomes, Lesley Greene, Caroline Greenwood, Alice Horrigan, Megan McDonald, Dani Novak, Adedamola Omotosho, Wei Ran, Ally Rooks, and Bart Selman. We thank math department chair Kathleen Cole and librarian Lillian Moss who both assisted with organization at the school.  We also thank school faculty and staff Karen Anagnost, Brenda Kirk, Elizabeth Kuehn, Stephanie Neagle, Fe Nunn, Maggie Pitkin, Sonnary Phongsawath, Robin Robert, associate principal Linda Myers, and principal Jason Trumble.
